Zinc is one of the most important elements in the human body. It performs many significant functions, e.g. regulatory, structural and catalytic. It is a component of over 300 enzymes, including DNA and RNA polymerases and those involved in protein biosynthesis. It is also necessary for the formation and proper functioning of hormones. Importantly, zinc directly or indirectly participates in the transformation of proteins, fats and carbohydrates, as well as in energy processes.
